Volunteering

Volunteers are vital to the running of any successful museum and we’re no exception! Sometimes people hesitate because they fear they don’t know enough about history, or they don’t have the academic training, but the only requirements for volunteering with us are an interest in the area’s history and culture and a willingness to pitch in.

Our volunteers might conduct guided tours or provide interpretation in one of our historic buildings; they might help to sew costumes, help at events, work in our garden, assist with maintenance and repairs or any number of other tasks. Whatever your interest in volunteering is and whatever skills you bring to the task, we can design a volunteer experience for you!

Time commitment to the museum is completely flexible – we know that you’re doing this out of the goodness of your heart! If you have a few hours each week, that’s wonderful, but if you have a couple of hours each month, that’s fantastic too! If you’re a high school student looking for those 40 vital hours of volunteer work you need to complete, we can arrange that too – just get in touch with us.

If you’re interested in volunteering with us or if you have questions about our volunteer program, call Kate at 705-457-2760 or e-mail info@haliburtonhighlandsmuseum.com.
