Staff & Committee

The staff of the Haliburton Highlands Museum consists of the Director and the Curator, as well as a Museum Assistant during the summer months.

Our Director, Kate Butler, joined the museum staff in 2013 after working in a variety of positions in the heritage sector, including the National Museum of Ireland and City of Toronto Museums. She has studied at the University of Toronto, University College Dublin and Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Our Curator, Steve Hill, joined the museum staff in 1984 and holds a diploma from the museum studies program at Algonquin College. He has previously worked at the Canadian War Museum and the Moore Museum.

Our Museum Assistant for 2018, Christine Darlington, is a graduate of the University of Guelph and is starting an MA in Art History at Queen’s University this September. She has previously worked at the Highlands Summer Festival as a stage manager and crew member.

The Glebe Park and Museum Committee, an advisory committee comprised of local stakeholders, serves a term concurrent with the four year term of Dysart el al.’s Council. The current committee is comprised of the following members:

In addition, many volunteers devote time to the museum over the course of the year, carrying out a variety of tasks ranging from assisting with events and fundraisers to gardening and maintenance projects around our historic buildings. We are extremely lucky to have such an enthusiastic and dedicated team – we look forward to welcoming you to the museum soon!
